You may own several of these badges without realizing they come from one manufacturer. A Café range, a GE Profile refrigerator and a Hotpoint dryer all share the same support site at geappliances.com and the same approach to model and serial tags.
The badge matters most for the warranty. GE says most of its appliances carry a warranty of typically one year, with longer coverage on specific parts for some models. Monogram is more generous, with two years of parts and labor on most Monogram appliances. Its integrated and column refrigerators add five years of parts and labor on the sealed system, then sealed system parts only through year twelve.
When you call, say which badge is on the appliance and read the model number from the tag. Profile and Café models can use different controls and features from a base GE unit, and the repair company will want to know which one it's dealing with before the visit.

When the burners work but the oven won't heat
GE's own checklist for this starts with the obvious: confirm the control is set to Bake or Broil and, on self-cleaning models, that the door latch is unlocked. With the breaker off, look at the lower bake element for cracks or breaks. GE says a cracked or broken element needs replacing.
A door stuck locked after self-clean has its own fix. GE suggests letting the oven cool to room temperature, then turning the breaker off for a few minutes and back on to release the latch. Refrigerators
GE Refrigerators in a Sacramento Garage
GE publishes firm limits for where its refrigerators can run. It doesn't recommend installing a standard GE refrigerator anywhere the temperature drops below 60F or climbs above 110F, unless the owner's manual says otherwise. Its Garage Ready top-freezer models stretch the low end to 38F, with the same 110F ceiling.
Sacramento tests both ends. NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals put the area at roughly 14 to 23 days a year of 100F or hotter, depending on the station. Winter nights average around 40F, well under GE's 60F floor for standard models. No one publishes measured garage temperatures for local homes, so a thermometer out there in July and again in January will tell you more than any estimate.
What GE says happens outside the limits
In the cold, GE explains that low temperatures can fool the thermostat into thinking the fridge is cold enough, and at 32F there may be no cooling at all. In extreme heat, GE warns that the compressor oil can overheat and break down, damaging the compressor or sealed system.

How GE Warranty Service Is Booked
GE keeps the exact terms for each appliance in its owner's manual, and that's the document to check first. The standard period is typically one year. Some GE models add coverage on specific parts after that, and Monogram, as noted above, runs longer.
GE routes both in-warranty and out-of-warranty repair booking through Bodewell, the service brand GE Appliances runs. If your appliance is inside its warranty period, book through GE Appliances service and support first. A covered repair through GE's own service costs you nothing, and an outside company would bill you for the same work.
GE accepts a sales invoice, a letter from the builder or other proof of occupancy to set the start date. Without one, it uses the manufacturing date. That helps in a newer home where the appliances came with the house, because the builder's letter can serve as the proof.

GE sells replacement parts with a one-year limited parts warranty, except water filters, which carry 30 days. Ask the repair company whether it uses GE parts and what warranty it gives on the labor.
Before you call
Where GE Puts the Model and Serial Number
GE calls the label a rating plate, and its position changes by appliance type. A real GE model number starts with a letter. If the number you're reading ends in a P followed by digits, such as 317b6641p001, that's a caution label and you need to keep looking. Newer tags also carry a QR code that opens the support page for that exact model.
Ranges and wall ovens
Open the oven door and check the front frame first. On front-control models the tag may sit inside the frame under the control panel. Gas models may have it behind the rear control panel, and electric coil ranges under the left front surface unit. GE also lists spots under a lift-up cooktop, on the left leg behind the drawer or kick panel, and on the front frame inside the drawer.
Side-by-side refrigerators
Look low in the fresh food compartment: on the floor or behind the crisper drawers, which you may need to pull out. Otherwise, check the left or right inside wall near the crispers or near the top, or the ceiling of the fresh food section.
Dishwashers

Repair or replace
Deciding Whether a GE Repair Makes Sense
Some GE faults point to a single part. GE says F3 and F4 mean the oven sensor needs replacing, and a cracked bake element needs a new element. Neither is a reason on its own to give up on a range that otherwise works. An electronic control fault (F5, F8 or FF) is a bigger decision, so get the part price in writing before you agree, and weigh it against the age and value of the range.
For a refrigerator, age and the sealed system decide it. If the compressor or sealed system has failed on a standard GE fridge past its warranty, compare the written estimate against the replacement price, and read the repair or replace guide before you commit.
